Teach me to love like that

A prayer for exhaling deeply and mounting up hope for the long haul:

Our God,

May we protect the wounded and broken spirits among us, as we anticipate the victory of your strong hand of love

May we align ourselves with those who mourn now, in anticipation of their coming comfort.

May we stand with the powerless, as we anticipate their elevation.

May we hunger and thirst for justice, and not be satisfied with vengeance.

May we extend mercy upon mercy, that your justice may rise in the overflow.

May our desires be inflamed by your affections, and our minds and bodies follow our burning hearts.

May our vigilance in the cause of peace draw accusations of being your children.

May we be known for our love, and rejoice when we suffer for an unwillingness to bend from that political platform.

Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy.
