A few more folks than usual are giving attention to today as the anniversary of Elvis’ death. Today also marks six years since Brother Roger of Taize, the peacemaker whose work drew thousands of young people to contemplate how their lives might be lived in reconciliation, was killed during a worship gathering. As those who honor the saints who have gone before them say, he was born into heaven. Happy birthday, Brother Roger.
The simple, contemplative style of Taize worship is something we have incorporated into life at Pepperdine from time to time. Pepperdine’s Lausanne program is located about three hours from Taize. If you’re ever nearby, it would be well worth a visit. I would love to go, myself.
