1A. Lord, make me a channel of thy peace

I am trying to learn this prayer, both to know the words and to pray them well.

The first line is often prayed, “make me an instrument of your peace.” The reading “channel” taught me to pray: “I am a channel, not a bucket.” A fast reminds me I was never satisfied, even at my most prodigal (dear Liza, dear Liza).

A channel doesn’t require a refill.

Psalm 37

I’m writing short reflections on the Franciscan peace prayer through Lent. This is the first in the series.
